TOPIC: YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
Scripture: Matthew 5: 14. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Yesterday, we began to explore one name which the believers in Christ Jesus is called as the light of the world. We looked at the implicationsof being called light. And today, we intend to continue along this line.
It is a thing of joy that our relationship with Jesus changes our identity! Our association with Jesus gave us a new name. We that were sometimes describe as darkness in time past are now light:
Ephesians 5: 8. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Waoh! I’m excited to hear this, I’m no longer darkness but light.
What is the implications of being light of the world?
1. It means dispel darkness: No activities of darkness is permitted around you anymore. Besides you have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness:
Colossians 1: 13. Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:*
Therefore, no agents of darkness ( be it a witch, a wizard, an occult or juju priest) should dictate the pace of your life anymore! You have dominion over darkness and agent of darkness. However, you don’t say because you have dominion over them and then sit down, you must exercise your dominion in the place of prayer. It is in the place of prayer you put the works of darkness where they belong.
Don’t sit down in your office and agent of darkness is taking over every where put on your priestly regalia and pray in the Spirit, pray in tongues until you see darkness park out. In that compound where you lived, sack darkness and the works of darkness in the place of prayer.
2. It means provide directions.
3. It means open the eyes of the blinds: It is alarming the number of persons who are blind spiritually because of Adamic nature. When Adam sinned he lost spirituality and became blind. So as many that are born after the order of Adam are spiritually dead and blind but when such a person shall turn to the Lord Jesus Christ the veil that is the cause of blindness is removed.
2 Corinthians 3: 16. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
Such a person becomes a light and he is also mandated to ensure every one who are still blind could see the light:
Acts 26: 18. To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
4. It means to provides leadership to our world :
Luke 12: 35. Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
The greatest challenge of the world today is lack of quality leaders. So God is turning your life into light of the world so that you can provide the needed leadership.
Leadership is influence! Don’t say I’m not at the top so I’m not a leader, there is a world around you that is waiting for your light, so let it shine!
Your leadership begins from your homes, so provide leadership to your family! Also in whatever areas of profession God has placed you, you are expected to be a leader there! In the medical world, education world, science and engineering world, media and entertainment world, art and culture, financial world etc! Let the Light of God shine through your life. You are the Bible the world is reading, don’t quench the light if your life has really been lighted let it shine
Remember this : Heaven is real and hell is real! The limit of your influence is a function of your light. Give your heart to Christ today!
Prayer points :
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord I receive grace to be a Light to my world in the name of Jesus.
Prophetic Declaration :
– I prophesy you will be a light to lighten your nations in the name of Jesus.
– You are the light, the world is waiting for, go ahead and be a light to your world.
Assignment : Be a light to your world by becoming a leader to your world.
