TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING WHY SOME PRAYERS ARE UNANSWERED
Scripture: 1 John 5: 14. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: –
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Previously, we established that one of the keys of contending for our prophetic word is prayer! However, not all prayers produce results. For a few years I have been a Christian, I have observed keenly that not every prayer made receives answers! For a long time I have wondered why some prayers remains unanswered until recently I begin to discover why God will answers some prayers and leave some unanswered. Some of my findings are what I will be sharing with us in a couple of days from now.
Why are some prayers unanswered?
1. Praying amiss: When prayers is made out of selfishness and self centeredness we are bound to pray amiss.
James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.*
Observed the clause ye ask and receive not because ye ask amiss! So evidently clear that you can pray without answers.
2. Prayer made but not according to the will of God:! What then is the will of God? The will of God is two fold, the reveal will that is revealed to you and the written will. The written will is scattered through the scriptures
In a nutshell we can say the word of God is simply the will of God. Our anchor scripture says if we pray in accordance to God’s will, we are sure God heard us;
*1 John 5: 14. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:*
This is our confidence that if we can succeed in praying according to His will, He heard our prayer. There are many unanswered prayers because God did not hear the prayers! If He heard it then we are sure of answers.
Beloved, the only way to be sure God heard us is to pray according to His word.
The word of God is what define the boundaries of God’s commitment to us. It spelt out God’s promises, principles and prophecies! We must therefore ensure every prayer is within the confined of the word of God.
The written will of God is a compilation of volumes of 66books that has been canonized and accepted as scriptures. To pray according to the scripture is to pray according to the will of God.
Our confidence therefore is not in eloquency of speech but in praying according to the will of God! This is the only assurance that God will hear us, this is the only assurance that our prayers will receive heaven’s attention. For the Bible said:
1 John 5: 15. And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Beloved, next time you want to start praying ensure you are able to get scriptures upon which to establish your prayer points by so doing you will be sure you are praying according to the will of God.
Besides, we’ve established that the scriptures contain principles, promises and prophecies. We shall examine few of this principles.
The following are some of the scriptural principles of getting answers to prayer;
1. Our prayer must be directed to God the Father. When Jesus was teaching us to pray, He began by saying:
Matthew 6: 9. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
This implies that every prayer must be directed to God the Father!
Does that mean we cannot worship the son? Yes we can! When we express how much we love Him, we are worshipping Him! We can as well direct our love affair to the Holy Spirit telling Him how much we love Him. But when it comes to prayer, intercession, supplication it must be to the father not to the son or the Holy Spirit;
John 16: 23. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Although there are times when we take advantage of praying in tongues. The Holy Spirit still maintain the same protocol by directing all prayers to God the Father.
For the Bible said:
Romans 8: 27. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real! Men that will be internally banished to hell are those that reject Jesus here on earth. Give your heart to Jesus today.
Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord I receive the grace to pray according to the scripture in the name of Jesus.
Prophetic Declaration:
– You are delivered from wrong way of praying in the name of Jesus.
– The angel that is in charge of blessing distribution is coming your way this season in the name of Jesus.
Assignment: Get relevant scriptures to the issue at hand before you start praying.
