TOPIC: THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD – THANKSGIVING
Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5: 18. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! We give thanks and praise to God Almighty, who made it possible for us to see the end of July and for ushering us to the eighth’s month of the year!
Today is the first day of the month of August and as our custom is on Moment of Daily Encounter, it is a day set aside to give thanks to God! Hence our focus today is, “thanksgiving is the will of God” for you.
Beloved, if there’s one will of God that is obvious throughout the pages of scriptures, it is thanksgiving.
What is a will?
According to Merriam Webster dictionary; A will is a person’s choice or desire in a particular situation.
God’s desire for us is to give thanks. His choice for us is to give thanks!
This is why the Bible says:
Isaiah 43: 21. This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.
Observed from the above scripture that God has a desire that we give Him thanks, that was why He created us in the first place! We are created to praise God, but there is no way we can carry out a successful praise without a heart of thanksgiving.
Every genuine praise begins with thanksgiving. Therefore, we must understand we were created to give thanks to God.
Also:
Revelation 4: 11. Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Beloved, as you sleep and wake up every day, celebrate the God that made it possible for you to sleep and wake up because it is not every body sleep could wake up to see a new day!
By so doing, you are fulfilling part of the reason for your existence. Today, we are thanking God for bringing us thus far into the year in 2023.
From our anchor scripture (1Thess.5:18), we are instructed that in everything, give thanks. Hmmm! This is heavy!
What if the outcome was unfavourable? We are commanded to give thanks because this is the will of God!
We’re bound to obey scriptures rather than the obvious outcomes that are starring at us now! Then, our thanksgiving will turn around the unfavourable outcome to a favourable one.
Beloved, have you lost anything since the year began? God is the reason why you did not lose everything. He is the reason why you did not lose your life, so give praise and thanks to God.
I don’t know where you are right now?
But I’ve got good news for you, this month of August shall be a turning point as you engage the mystery of thanksgiving.
Probably, you desire a good job since the year began and up till now no positive development, it could be by now you are hoping to be married but up till this moment no suitors. Oh your case is you are expecting a baby but till now no pregnancy in view.
Whatever your case might be, just go ahead and give thanks for the benefit of being alive till today the first of August 2023.
As you show to God that you are grateful, expect a turnaround story in the remaining part of the year. I’m aware the economy is not smiling on anyone yet we are bound to give thanks to God.
How do you give thanks?
1. With your singing ;
Psalm 89: 1. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.
2.With your shouting:
Psalm 47: 1. O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the zoo voice of triumph. 5. God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
3. With your dancing:
*Psalm 149: 3. Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.
4. With your offering etc. :
Psalm 96: 8. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.
Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real. Your choice of whom you serve now determines where to spend eternity.
Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord, help me to imbibe the attitude of thanksgivings in Jesus name.
Prophetic Declaration:
– I prophesy the month of August shall favour you in all aspect in the name of Jesus.
– I declare the month of August, God will do a new thing in your life.
Assignment : Set aside a time just to give thanks to God today.
