TOPIC: THE GUIDANCE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Scripture: John 16: 13. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! It is necessary for us to understand that the Holy Spirit does not only give gifts to men!
He also guides! Yet this is the most neglected aspect of the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Many believers have dabble into problems they shouldn’t have to if only they appreciated this ministry. Today our focus is the guidance ministry of the Holy Spirit.
What do we mean by guidance ministry?
It simply means the Holy Spirit as a person can guide as many that permit and allow Him to guide them.
How does the Holy Spirit guide?
There are several ways He does it;
1. The Joy factor and Peace factor: Previously we established that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy and peace.
We also said, when you are born again the kingdom o God f is now within you (Lk.17:21)! In an attempt to describe this kingdom, the Bible said:
Romans 14: 17. For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Observe, the characteristics of the kingdom are righteousness, peace and joy! Therefore, what ever tamper with your peace and joy is actually a pointer that Holy Spirit is leading you away from it.
Beloved, there are times, you will not hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, you will not see any scriptural revelation, trance or dreams yet you lost your peace! That is a danger sign. The Lost of peace is a pointer that God is not approving what you are doing at that time or about to do.
There are countless Christian who runs into problems today just because the peace and joy factor is ignore or not obeyed.
There are those who have ended up marrying a wrong partner because they ignore the joy and peace factor. God cannot be leading you and you lost your peace. The lost of peace is a sign that Holy Spirit is saying stop or hold your break for now. It is like the red light in a traffic light. It means stop.
Beloved, are you about entering into a relationship and you lost your peace please cancel it for now. Oh you are about proposing marriage to someone and you lost your peace, please stop that proposal and pray until you get further clearance from the Holy Spirit.
Perhaps, you are about signing that contract and you suddenly lost your peace, then stop it! Or you are about entering into partnership in business with somebody else and you lost your peace, don’t continue. It could be you are about travelling and you suddenly lost your peace, please go back home it is possible God wants to save you from disaster for that day. Don’t say I have given my word that I’m coming, so I have to go!
Rather obey the impulse of the Holy Spirit by cancelling the journey for that day. Or you are about boarding a taxi or bus and you lost your peace don’t continue. A sister had been raped because she ignore the voice of the Holy Spirit
Perhaps, somebody is about giving you some money and you lost your peace, please don’t collect that money. I know many believers will ignore the voice of the Holy Spirit and go ahead to collect such money but they will ever live to regret it if they survive the problems that will follow it.
Money as good as it is have been use by the enemy in several ways as a set up, to implicate the other person or as a means of transference of some spiritual possibilities.
Beloved, the scenario is endless, I have only listed a few of it. So check the one that is applicable to you. Any time the Lord withdraw your peace and joy stop.
2. The inner witness or the still small voice(Jn.16:13); In every child of God is this voice of the Holy Spirit present, and many have taught it is their imagination that is speaking because they don’t know how to recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has a voice and such, He speaks by bearing witness with our human spirit :
Romans 8: 16. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
That voice that assured you that you are now a child of God or that say you have not prayed today is the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real. The decision to spend eternity with God begins now. Give your heart to Jesus today.
Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord I obtain grace to obey the voice of Holy Spirit leading in every day of my life in Jesus name.
Prophetic Declaration:
– I declare by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, you will not fall prey into the trap of the wicked in the name of Jesus.
– Your destiny will not be locked up in a cooler in the name of Jesus.
Assignment : Practice how to obey the voice of the Holy Spirit by obeying the promptings to give anything today.
