TOPIC: THE DAVID’S DANCE
Scripture :2 Samuel 6: 14. And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! In the recent times there has bee a renaissane of the move of God!
So there’s this awareness of dance in the praises of Jehovah. Hence all manner of dancing spring up in the body of Christ.
Today, we intend to look at dance from the lenses of scripture and the classic example here is the dance of David which is often refers to as David’s dance.
What exactly is David dance?
It is proper for us to set the record straight first on what is not David:s dance;
1. It is not a dance to stimulate fleshly lust.
This is very common among the dance of the century, in the past it was ballroom dance where the opposite sex dance to gravitate the flesh but today there are many kinds of such dance. Infact no spirit filled believers should engage in such a dance. The Bible said:
1 Thessalonians 5: 22. Abstain from all appearance of evil.
2. It is not a dance that stirs up sinful desire in us and in others(Matt 18:6). This is a dance of competition, dancing to prove a point.
3. It is not an attention seeking dance! There are dance that seek for attention. That was the dance that brought jealousy to king Saul when the women dance singing Saul has slain a thousand, David ten thousand (1Sam.18:6-9)
What then is David’s dance?
1. It is dancing in celebrating the Almighty! Infact it is a dance of thanksgiving to God: When ever you are dancing to celebrate how great this God is then you are in for sure a David dance. David was dancing with gratitude to God considering where he was before in the forest and now that God has brought him to palace.
Remembering how he was running from pillar to post in days of king Saul and how God has delivered him from all his enemies. So he dance to say Lord I’m grateful.
2. it is dancing in praise to God: David was dancing in praise of Jehovah not the praise of any deity or mortal man.
3. It is a dance where high value is place on the Almighty God rather than status. You know one of the greatest hindrance to those whom God has blessed and lifted is their new status. Here is David who never mind his status as the king of the land. Never mind his royal apparels. Never mind the high altitude God has taken him to. No wonder he said:
Psalm 75: 6. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
4. It is a dance where you play like a little child before the LORD: David dance and play like a little child that even his wife despise him! And David responded to his wife thus:
2 Samuel 6: 21. And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD. 22. And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.
Beloved, do you know the results of this woman action led to her barrenness for life(2Sam.6:23)! This is a great lesson for us when we see someone dancing like a mad man before the Lord, don’t mock him/her.
So many people have gone to church to carry courses rather than blessing instead of minding their own business and dance their own way, they are busy observing and doing the work of a referee in the process mocked some people and angels in attendance recorded it against them. If you are fond of doing that, the Holy Ghost is saying repent today.
5. It is a dance with all your might: David didn’t dance with reserve strength! He dance with all that is within Him, all his spirit,soul and body was engaged in the exercise! He dance with all his might and God was pleased :
2 Samuel 6: 14. And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
Beloved, you can see one of the reason why David was single out amongst many Kings because of his understanding of what praise is in different dimensions. Let’s learn to dance in praise of Jehovah today.
Remember this : Heaven is real and hell is real! God want to spent eternity with you. Will you permit him?
Prayer points :
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord, ignite in me with the passion for praise in a dance in the name of Jesus.
– Lord help me never to feel too big to dance your praise in the name of Jesus.

– I prophesy the spirit of David dance to come upon you now in the name of Jesus.
– Receive grace to dance like David dance
