TOPIC: PRAYER OF ENQUIRY DURING FASTING
Scripture: 1 Samuel 30:8 And David inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Fasting season is one of the best time to make enquiries! So, today our focus is prayer of enquiry.
What do we mean by prayer of enquiry?
1. It is prayer made soliciting for response! That is you are asking your heavenly father question while you wait patiently for response.
Psalm 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
2. It is prayer requesting God to teach you! You see in life, it is only those that acknowledge they don’t know are the people that learn new things! If you want to learn put the attitudes of a child.
The Bible said:
Job 34:32 That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.
3. It is prayer made to show you are helpless, and that your dependence is on God. If you depends on what you learn in school or your experience alone, you will certainly fail!
But if you depends on God and show to Him by asking Him questions, He will be glad to answer you.
Psalm 25:9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
Why do you need to pray this prayer of enquiry?
1. God said so! So, in response to God’s instruction you pray it, expecting an answer from Him:
Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Observed the above scripture, call upon me and I will answer you- meaning if you don’t call by asking God questions, He may never show you anything. Life is deeper than what you are seeing because it is full of mysteries. And when God show you the mystery behind the happening around your life, you become a master.
Men that are stars trade on mysteries available to them. Infact the strength of any so called powerful men is their access to secrets.
Besides, it is only those that ask questions that are entitled to receive answers. If you don’t ask questions then don’t expect answers, don’t expect revelation.
2. It is because prayer of enquiry gives us divine direction and direction is stronger than power.(Gen.26:1-14. Deut.29:29) Instead of expending energy to pray for power, we will rather pray for direction because God follows who ever He direct!
Divine direction is the secret of the great because if you can discover the will of God, you have discovered power! In the will of God lies the power of God.
3. It is because that is the cheapest way to recovery. David understood this secret and spent time asking questions first before embarking on the recovery process.
David said:
1 Samuel 30:8 And David inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
Observed the scriptures above, you will notice David ask two questions :
A. Shall I pursue after this troop?
B. Shall I overtake them?
And in response to this questions God reply him by saying “Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all”!
Beloved, the year has started rolling in again, if you do what you did last year, don’t expect a different result. But if you want different results, then you must do something differently. And to do something differently, you need the voice of direction.
You must be able to access the voice of God, and that is facilitated during fasting. You must get divine direction now and then your results will be different from what it used to be last year.
Remember this; Heaven is real, and hell is real. The decision to spend eternity with God begins now. Give your heart to Jesus today.
Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Father I open my heart to receive the voice of direction this year in the name of Jesus
Prophetic Declaration:
– I declare by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the portal of heavenly vista are open unto you this season. You will not miss it this year in the name of Jesus.
– You will not make a wrong decision this year, you will not make the wrong investment this year in the name of Jesus.
Assignment: Prepare your heart for divine instruction that will lead you to your all round blessing this year.
