TOPIC: MARRIAGE COVENANT- A PATHWAY TO THE BLESSING
Scripture: Malachi 2: 14. Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter!
Previously we established that covenant is a pathway to the blessing, hence we have considered, covenant with the devil, Covenant with God and then covenants with persons. Today, we shall yet consider another example of covenant with persons and in this case marriage Covenant.
Marriage is a Covenant between a man and a woman and as such it comes under person to person covenant.
According to our anchor scripture(Mal.2:14), we see God being the witness to your marriage Covenant. God said that He is the witness between you and the wife of your youth whom you are treating badly, she is the wife of your Covenant!
That woman you called your wife, God is watching how you are taking care of her! When you treat her bad or good God is watching!
It is quite unfortunate that many believers married without understanding the implications of the covenant they are entering into.
Many have closed down the door of their blessing by virtue of how they treated their wives at home!
1 Peter 3: 7. Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered* .
From scripture above you can see that your prayers can be hinder based on how you treat your wife! So also your door of blessing could be open or close based on how you treat your wife.
It is also worthy of note that some women who are supposed to be wives and opening the door of favour to their husbands are knives busy tearing down the man’s destiny!
If since your husband marries you, he doesn’t have peace anymore, he doesn’t make progress neither does he enjoyed favour, then know for sure something is wrong! It is either your life is under serious attack or you have not contested for your right in the place of prayer. Or you are not doing the right thing!
The Bible said:
Proverbs 18: 22. Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD* .
If your husband finds you and no favour is following, you need to war with that scripture until literally you can see favour following your marriage.
Covenant is the fundamental tool that God has designed to construct and order His relationship with man. Covenants are established by making an oath—an oath that creates kinship between the two who are making the covenant. If you don’t have an oath, you don’t have a covenant.
Marriage is a covenant and not a contract because contract is temporal, time bound but marriage Covenant is permanent for life! Contract does not permit you to surrender your personal autonomy whereas in Marriage Covenant personal autonomy is gladly surrender for mutual sexual intimacy.
Marriage is intended to be commitment to which we maintain trust and fidelity until separated by death. In a covenant, we put the needs of the relationship ahead of our own needs, humbly serving each other much as Christ serves the church. This is what makes marriage a mystery!
Ephesians 5: 32. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
How does marriage covenant becomes a pathway to the blessing?
God is interested in families! He is excited to bless two people that comes together in marriage covenant especially when they are believers in Christ Jesus.
God desire godly seeds to fill the earth. So He endorse the marriage covenant with His blessing! By so doing you will discover what you could not get as single person you get it cheaply when married because the Bible said:
Ecclesiastes 4: 9. Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
Remember this; Heaven is real and hell is real! Don’t joke with your eternal destiny, give your heart to Jesus today.
Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Father help me to maintain my marriage covenant in the name of Jesus.
Prophetic Declaration:
– I prophesy the release of the blessing of God upon every strain marriage in the name of Jesus.
– Every marriage that is about to break recieved Divine intervention in the name of Jesus.
Assignment: Check your life if you are cheating on your spouse, because that can close your door of blessing too.
