MESSAGE TOPIC: HOW TO ENJOY A LONG LASTING AND SWEET MARRIAGE

MESSAGE OBJECTIVE(S):
1. Understanding why we should have a sweet and long lasting marriage
2. Identifying the keys to enjoying a long lasting and sweet marriage

WHY SHOULD WE HAVE A LONG LASTING AND SWEET MARRIAGE?
1. The Home is the cellular level of society
The success of the families in the society or in the church determines the success of that society and the vibrancy of that church

2. The Home is where you start your day
How you start your day determines the success of the rest of the day
A successful marriage is vital for the success of the work of your hands

3. The Home is where you win your victories (Matt. 18:19-20; Eccl. 4:12)
Solid prayer together as a couple works signs and wonders

4. The Home is a place of shelter
Your home is not where you should be running away from; let your home be a place of peace and solace

5. The Home is your place of identity

KEYS TO ENJOYING A LONG LASTING AND SWEET MARRIAGE:
1. Be born again (Eph. 5:1)

2. The foundation of purity (Eph. 5:1,3-7)
Before you get married, ensure your bed is not defiled.
Ensure that you abstain from any appearance of evil in your premarital relationship

3. Love as a bedrock (Eph. 5:2, 25, 28-29, 31)
3a. Love your wife as your own body (Eph. 5:28)
You cannot love your wife and be maltreating your wife at the same time.
Your wife is bone of your bone and flesh of your flesh; she is of you. Only a mad man will beat and harm himself.
3b. Nourish your wife (Eph. 5:29)
3c. Protect your wife (Eph. 5:31)
Don’t expose your wife to danger
3d. Know your wife (1 Peter 3:7)

4. Submission (Eph. 5:21-22, 23-24; 6:1)
4a. Submit to your own husband
4b. Submission as unto the Lord (Eph. 5:22, 24)
4c. Understand the hierarchy in the family tree of the Kingdom of God (Eph. 5:23)
‘Honour’ in (Eph. 6:1-3) refers to:
a. Being respectful to your parents
b. Give to the them
c. Represent them


5. Parents, do not provoke your children to wrath (Eph. 6:4)
“Nuture” in (Eph. 6:4) refers to:
Tutelage, training, respecting and bringing your children up in the way of the Lord.
