Before I embarked on any major project, I would go on a retreat. My prayer life became the cornerstone of this journey. When it came to preparing for “Prophet Suddenly,” I took the script, my preferred hard copy, and placed it on my bed. I spent extended hours in prayer, seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit. This wasn’t just routine; I knew this role was significant, and I needed divine guidance.
I vividly remember having countless conversations with the Holy Spirit during this time. It was during these moments that I felt an enabling power that would later become instrumental in portraying my character.
2. The Guidance of My Reverend: My Reverend, Stephen Lawson, played a pivotal role in this journey. His mentorship and guidance brought out depths within me that I didn’t even know existed. Working with him was an incredible honor. He was there on set, not just for me but for the entire cast and crew. His attention to detail was astonishing, right down to the smallest nuances of our performances. His dedication to helping us achieve our best was unwavering. It was an enriching experience to work alongside him, and I’m forever grateful for his presence.
3. Anointed Talent: I firmly believe that God has endowed me with a unique blend of talent and anointing. The talent was always there, waiting to be harnessed. The Holy Spirit had something to breathe life into, and my inherent abilities provided a canvas for this divine collaboration. As I immersed myself in the character, I became one with it. When the director called “action,” I ceased to be Laura; instead, I embodied the character entirely. This innate talent was a blessing that allowed me to bring the character to life authentically.
4. Extensive Research: Preparation for this role extended beyond the spiritual realm. I embarked on a journey of research that was both immersive and enlightening. I scoured YouTube for insights on mystical characters, studying their movements, speech patterns, and the intricacies that made them captivating. I also delved into films featuring similar roles, observing how other actors interpreted their characters. Books and materials became my companions as I sought to understand the nuances of this mystical character. It was a rigorous process, but it was essential to breathe life into the role.
