TOPIC: GOD’S PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE IS ETERNAL
Scripture: For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
2 Corinthians 5:1 NIV.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! One of our definition of life yesterday was life is a vapour! And that leaves us with a thought of eternity, that we are here to prepares for eternity! Today the Holy Ghost is saying God’s purpose for our lives goes beyond this world, it is purely eternal!
Beloved, don’t only think of eternity during funeral service or on the hospital bed, rather let the thought of eternity occupied your heart every day.
I observed that whenever I was opportune to conduct a funeral service my audience will always listen with rapt attention and most of the time surrendering their lives to Jesus was as easy as abc!
Then after funeral service they seems to have forgotten about eternity and live carelessly!
Beloved, if the only time you think about eternity is at funeral then your thinking is shallow. The matter of eternity must occupied the priority in all of your life pursuit.
Why should you live with eternity in view?
1. It is when the light of eternity get dawn on your soul that your values system changes.
2. Eternity consciousness changes how you use time and money
3. It helps you to value character and relationship than wealth, fame, achievement or fun
4. It kills the passion for trending fashion and trying to impress people
5. It makes God and His kingdom your singular pursuit in life.
Beloved, you will not remain on earth for ever! At most 120 or 150years you are no more!
One day your heart will stop beating. That’s the end of your body on earth, but it will not be end of your life because you were design to last forever. Your earthly body is just your a temporary residence for your spirit.
Our anchor scripture refer to our earthly body as a ‘tent’ and to your eternal home as a house that is not made with human hands.
This implied that our stay on earth is just a preparation for the actual life. Our lives on earth is just a dress rehearsal before the real life. Do you know you will spend more time on the other side of the world in eternity than you are on earth?
The life you are living now is a warm up stage before the race began. Like Abraham Lincoln would say “surely God would not have created such a being as man to exist only for a day! No, no, man was made for immortality.”
Beloved, God’s purpose for your life goes beyond this world! It is eternal. You are here to prepare for eternity. How prepared are you?
How do you get prepared?
1. You must be born again (Jn.3:3-5)
2. You must maintain a life style of Holiness (Heb.12:14)
3. Make God and His kingdom your primary pursuit (Matt.6:33)
