TOPIC: EXPLORING METHODS OF SERVICE
Scripture: Exodus 12: 31. And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Now serving God as a matter of fact is the purpose of our creation! We were designed and empowered to serve. Our focus today is to explore the various ways of service.
From our anchor scripture we observed that the children of Israel were redeemed from Egyptian slavery because of the purpose of serving the Lord;
Exodus 12: 31. And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.
If compared with our redemption, we can conclude that we were redeemed to serve the Lord. However, an understanding of how we serve the Lord matters.
The following will be a useful guide to how one can serve the Lord;
1. Serving God as we offer sacrifice of praises, prayers, worship, giving, soul winning etc. Many of us are familiar with this method and most men have thought is the only way of serving the Lord.
2.Serving God by serving man! This method includes:
a. Helping the man with a mandate of God to fulfil God’s assignment for his life. Like Aaron, Hur and Joshua assisted Moses(Exo. 17:10-13)!
Beloved, don’t assume your support to a man with God’s mandate as a way of pitied the sent man, rather you are serving God. That is your own contribution to God. So when you have an opportunity to lift up the hands of a man called and sent by God, do it as a service to the Lord. Are you helping to lift up the hands of the man prayer wise, financially or otherwise, please do it with a sense of service to God.
There are many Moses in our days whose hands are down because of lack of support The Disciples that later becomes the Apostles and other women supported Jesus ministry( Mrk.3:13-14;Luke 8:2-3).
b. Joining any service unit in your local assembly and serve e. g as a cleaner, as an usher, as security, Chorister, children handler etc (Exo. 23:25).
c. You can as well run errands for God’s servant or your pastor as your contribution to their overall success. That was the life of Joshua. He served God by serving Moses(Joshua 1:1).
d. You can as well serve God by functioning as a Levi or a priests(the five fold ministry) (Eph.4:11-12).
Meanwhile, the hallmark of service begins with salvation
John 6: 29. Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
So, if you have not hand over your life to Christ, it means you don’t believe on Jesus.
Don’t move from church to hell! Your service does not gives salvation, you must be born again! Service can eternal rewards (1Cor.9:25) and earthly blessings but not salvation.
Exodus 23: 25. And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
Assignment : Find a way to engage in serving the Lord today
Remember this : Heaven is real and hell is real. The decision of where to spend eternity is best made now. Give your heart to Jesus today.
Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today
– Father, I obtain grace to serve you diligently in the name of Jesus.
Prophetic Declaration:
– I decree and declare that your purpose on earth shall not be aborted in the name of Jesus.
-Whatever tied your hands from fulfilling your purpose on earth looses their grip over you now in the name of Jesus.
