1 Corinthians 13:4-8
*Claiming to love God without loving people is the highest form of hypocrisy.
*People will not know that we are Christians until God’s love is demonstrated through us.
Shall we lift up our hands and consciously thank God. Let’s celebrate the faithfulness of God. Say to God, Lord reveal your word to me. I want my own revelation. Give him a big hand and be seated.
In the Kingdom of God, you become easily successful when you are a lover of God.
1 Corinthians 2:9.
When you love God, you become a marvel to your world. In the new covenant, Jesus stated that love is the greatest. You can’t predict the end of a lover of God and men.
God’s love is exhibited in our love for people. It means if you don’t love people, you do not love God. If you truly love God, it will show by the way you love people. Claiming to love God without loving people is the highest form of hypocrisy.
1 John 4:20-29.
How can we say we love God when we do not love the brethren that we see. Those who truly love God love God’s people too. If you love God and His people, you will avoid jealousy, hatred, bitterness and envy.
Have you ever felt bad when people get successful? You don’t love people if you do not celebrate them.
1 John 3:15,18.
Many people die early because of bitterness. Love has a nature, it will show if you are in love.
Love endures with patience. Have you heard people say they have endured enough and now they are tired. They don’t understand love yet.
Every love that endures must be done with patience. Any love that only endures without patience cannot last. God Himself is very patient with you. When you correct a person with love, change is then very easy to achieve. People preach love but don’t practice love. To endurance and patience, kindness must also be added.
I was talking to a couple recently. And I said to the wife, “no quarrel should make you deny your husband food and sex.”
No quarrel should make you stop your responsibility to your spouse. This goes to both male and female. When you get angry at every little thing, you don’t understand love yet.
People separate in marriage not because things are not working but because there is no love. Love is forever not a seasonal thing.
Love is never envious nor proud. These days, the level of pride is so high. You see some husbands and wives in competition between themselves. You see men talk to their wives arrogantly because of their status. There are so many who do not understand love. Such men are selfish. They will go to get things for themselves alone; no thought of their wives.
1 Peter 4:8 means that you will not expose your partner’s weakness and mistakes outside. It does not mean you will condone sin but it means you will not ridicule the erring partner outside as a result of his/her mistakes. Love covers in silence.
.When you hear a man say that my wife does not know how to cook, he is yet to understand love. Let me be very raw with you.
Hire somebody to teach her and it is not even compulsory that she cooks for you, can’t you get a chef? It is your poverty that is disturbing you. I told my wife to stop cooking. I told her that God has blessed me to a point that you will never enter kitchen. Where did you hear that a woman must cook till she dies.
Just be angry with your poverty. You employ a chef. If you can’t afford that yet, work around teaching her and stop spreading her weakness all around. No one is perfect.
The scripture calls the women weaker vessels, it means men are the weak ones. There can’t be weaker if there is no weak.
Please learn to love. Love is already in your heart but you must consciously nurture it and grow it. When you wait for somebody to make mistakes, that means you never loved. Love does not record errors.
The missing thing in Christian faith today is love. Jesus demonstrated His love for God’s people. He cared for their welfare. Do you like sharing what you have with people? It is not how much you have that determines what you share. What determines what you share is how much love you have.
Lovers learn to give, stingy people always love to collect. If all you like to do is to collect, you are not in love. I don’t preach love, I practice love. When I was in boarding house as a secondary school student, my provisions is always the first to finish because I share with people.
People will not know that we are Christians until God’s love is demonstrated through us. Christianity is not coming to church; it is not belonging to a denomination. The world will not know you by the Church you attend but through your demonstration of love to people. John 13:34-35. 1 John 3:18.
Title without love will earn you no entitlement.
