I know most people would say “Nelly oooo business lesson from football too” lols, oh yesss, I learn from anything and everything.
You know sometimes these stories and events inspire you and give you the courage to keep pushing in business.
As a business owner trading in the Nigerian market, you can use these success stories to keep yourself inspired, it really helps, you can’t totally ignore them oo.
So, over the weekend, I stumbled upon this brief review of Messi’s success ever since he moved to Inter Miami, and it was so touching, I had to write about it.
Inter Miami is an American club co-owned by several big boyz of which David Beckham is one of them, and he happens to be the President of the club.
They weren’t doing well on the soccer side of things despite having so much money. Their MOVE to signing Messi was the game changer for them.
They were at last place in the soccer league before they signed Messi, on signing Messi, they moved from last place to first place with seven games, six wins, and one draw.
In those seven games Messi scored 10 goals and led them to winning the cup title. Folake I don’t watch football, but I took a break to watch highlights of his games on YouTube.
His on-field skills are badass, the magic he does on the field you would think he’s not human. Even off the field he has tremendously helped the club.
Inter Miami, before signing Messi had less than 1 million followers on Instagram, after they signed him their followers skyrocketed to 14 million followers.
Their games are being streamed on Apple TV, after his signing, their subscription tripled, the sales of Messi’s jersey increased astronomical.
Infact, one of the reviewers said his jersey isn’t available on sale until October, what a glorious move for Miami!!
That’s not all ooo, even tickets to see the club’s games has hiked, a home game used to be $100 after signing Messi it’s now $900.
Guess what? Opposing teams are even benefiting more, last season New York tickets used to be sold for $90, this season tickets are sold for $1700.
In Los Angeles, last season tickets were sold for about $140, now tickets are sold for $2400.

Folake, what can you learn from this? So many lessons, but I will point one to you.

Just one business move that Miami made turned lots of eyeballs on their club.
They weren’t really heard of, I may be wrong, but their popularity among Nigerians isn’t like Chelsea, Man United, Barca and their likes.
