Minister Dunsin Oyekan, acclaimed as The Eagle, stands as a multifaceted force in the realms of worship, musicianship, songwriting, and pastoral leadership. Revered for his prowess as a guitarist and songwriter, he is also the visionary behind the Code Red Worship Experience. With a rich repertoire comprising over 50 impactful and uplifting songs, Minister Dunsin Oyekan has left an indelible mark on the world of gospel music.
Born on the 5th of November, 1984, in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, Dunsin Oyekan grew up as the sole son in his family. His father, Pastor Gbadebo Oyekan, a key figure in the Pentecostal movement and leader of the “Spiritual Singers” music group in Ilorin, profoundly influenced Dunsin’s musical journey. Pastor Gbadebo Oyekan, the General Overseer of Evangelical Baptist Church, played a pivotal role in shaping Dunsin’s musical inclinations, even envisioning a future where his son would study Music at the university.
Dunsin Oyekan’s musical journey commenced at the age of 10 when he began playing the guitar. Under the guidance of his father, he immersed himself in the world of Gospel music, attending concerts and participating in the church choir. A prophetic declaration from his father envisioned Dunsin as a vessel through which the dead would come back to life—a calling that would later unfold in his life.
Tragically, Dunsin Oyekan experienced the profound loss of his father on March 30, 2015, marking a poignant chapter in his life. Despite this, his commitment to music and worship persevered, a testament to his resilience and deep-rooted faith. As of the time of compiling this information, his mother remains a cherished presence in his life.
Educationally, Dunsin Oyekan journeyed from Airforce Nursery and Primary School, Ilorin, to the Federal Government College (FGC), Ilorin, and eventually graduated from the University of Ilorin with a degree in Industrial Chemistry. However, his true calling emerged in 2014 when he wholeheartedly embraced the worship ministry.
His association with the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) in Ilorin saw him serve as the Music Director, and presently, he acknowledges Dr. Pastor Paul Idoko Enenche of Dunamis Int’l Gospel Centre as his spiritual father, sharing platforms with him on various occasions.
Dunsin Oyekan’s impact extends beyond congregational worship, as he organizes and leads various events such as the Healing Room Worship Event, Code Red Worship Concert/Experience, Victory Tour, and the Outpouring. The Code Red Worship Experience, a bi-annual prophetic worship event, is a hallmark of his ministry, providing a space where individuals encounter the outpouring of God’s Spirit through worship.
In his personal life, Dunsin Oyekan married his University of Ilorin classmate, Adedoyin, on February 2, 2013. The union blessed them with two children. Tragically, Adedoyin Oyekan passed away on May 18, 2019. Despite this profound loss, Dunsin Oyekan remains steadfast in his faith, trusting God for a brighter future.
Dunsin Oyekan’s music ministry is characterized by a deep commitment to spreading the gospel through worship. With a passion for leading others closer to Jesus, he employs his musical gifts to create an atmosphere of intimacy with God. Over two decades of service in choirs, as a music director, and as a full-time worshipper, he has released three albums: ‘Code Red,’ ‘Kingdom Now,’ and ‘The Gospel of the Kingdom.’
His desire to fill the atmosphere with the heart of God and to stir revival is evident in his multifaceted approach to ministry. Beyond singing and playing instruments, he also imparts wisdom through teaching the word of God.
Dunsin Oyekan’s discography includes the debut album “Code Red” in 2016, featuring 14 tracks, and the 2019 release “Kingdom Now” with 20 tracks. His musical journey has yielded over thirty songs, with notable collaborations such as “Na You,” featuring American gospel singer Kim Burrell, performed at The Experience Concert.
