TOPIC: BENEFITS OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES
Scripture: Acts 10: 44. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 46. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! In continuation of what we started yesterday, we established that when the Holy Spirit arrives, He announces His arrival with evidence of speaking in tongues. And we went further to say one of the benefits of speaking in tongues is rest. Today, we shall be looking at how speaking in tongues offers rest to believers.
What are the benefits of speaking in tongues?
1. Speaking in tongues guarantees rest (Isa.28:11-12): This was exemplified in the account of Cornelius and his household being the first recipient of the Holy Spirit in the Gentiles world.
From our anchor scripture, Peter went to Cornelius’ house to preach, while he was still preaching, the Holy Spirit took over the meeting (Acts 10:44)! Cornelius household began to speak in tongues. There was no altar call or prayer time because the heart of the people were ready and they all were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues (Acts 10:46).
The beauty of it all was that rest came upon all of them! There was no question, no confusion even Cornelius that was afraid before became bold. Even Peter and his team could not permit prejudice to hinder them from being baptized in water (Acts 10:47-48) because it was evident that they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.
So, Protocol was broken because evidence silent arguments. And the Gentiles had rest as the door was flung open for the Gentiles nation to be saved.
Beloved, so shall every protocol be suspended for you as you engage the ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life.
How does speaking in tongues guarantee rest?
1. It serves as a tool for interaction between your spirit and the Holy Spirit. As you begin to speak in tongues your spirit begins to align with the Holy Spirit and as such there is a diffusion of thoughts and ideas between your spirit and the Holy Spirit.
Suddenly, what used to be a concern vanishes into the air as solutions flows into your thought realm! As you speak in tongues suddenly you receive any of the following :
a. Scripture that answers your question : For example; as a waiting mother, once in a while you may be worried about having your children which is being delayed especially when most of your mates who are married at the same time with you are already done having their own children.
But as you engage in speaking in tongues a scripture like Deuteronomy 7: 14 will come to mind: Thou shalt be blessed above all people: *there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
Then the light received from that scripture terminates your worries completely and then you enter into your rest!
Beloved in this world of darkness, where our faith is being challenged everyday, you need light to shatter the darkness all around you. And that light beams into your soul as you speak in tongues!
b. A divine ideas that solve your problem are recieved: One major challenge of mankind is inability to meet up with financial demands!
It has made men to commits various degrees of crimes. So the worry of how to meet up with their financial obligation has kept many restless, some stay awake all night thinking and wearing themselves with how to survive.
But as you engage in speaking in tongues, there will be a supernatural flow of ideas of what to do to meet your financial needs like Jacob (Gen.30:37-42).
For some it is just an idea of packaging what you have before, for some it is the idea of capacity enlargement like the widow in (2Kg.4:3) etc and then you enter your rest financially.
c. A divine strategy is receive that dissolves mountain : Some might have been seeing the problem that characterized their marriage as a result of wrong choice and there is already panic and fear of how not to be a victim of wrong spouse but as you engage the tools of speaking in tongues, you suddenly receive a strategy of how to do the right thing for example marry right or doing your job very well by so doing your fears disappear! Oh how could any one ever get out of any mess? The Holy Spirit gives strategy on how to come out and you have your rest at once.
2. Speaking in tongues help us to magnify God (Acts 10:46): The acts of speaking in tongues helps to magnify God outside your normal language.
3. It emboldens your heart! Fear is a monster that torments people greatly but with speaking in tongues you receive boldness that shatters every fear and you enter into your rest.
Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real! The decision of where to spend eternity begins now. Give your heart to Jesus today.

– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord I receive grace to engage the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus.
Prophetic Declaration:
– I prophesy every timidity and inferiority complex gives way in your life right now in the name of Jesus
– You are entering into your rest season on that matter of concerned to you in the name of Jesus.
Assignment : If you have any thing troubling the peace of your mind, take out time to pray abundantly in tongues and you will recieve rest at the end of the exercise.
