TOPIC: WHAT HAPPENS AT GETHSEMANE?

Scripture: Luke 22: 3. Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. 4. And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! In continuation of our redemption story; We’ve established that Jesus travel down to Jerusalem had a communion/last supper with His disciples and went straight away to Gethsemane. Today, we shall be looking at what happens happens to Jesus at Gethsemane.

We are all aware that Jesus went Gethsemane for prayers! So as soon as Jesus completed His prayer at Gethsemane, He said:
Matthew 26: 46. Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
Matthew 26: 47. And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48. Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.

From the above scripture, we could see what happened to Jesus in Gethsemane :
A. Betrayal (Matt.26:46)
B. Arrest (Matt.26:48)

Understand that immediately Jesus was made sin Satan moved through the religious leaders to get Him arrested. He also entered into one of His disciples to betrayed Him(Luke 22:3)! That disciples name was Judas Iscariot! Judas was one of the inner circle of disciples, yet he betrayed his master for 30pices of silver!

*Who is Judas Iscariot?*
He was one of the original twelve disciples who followed and were taught by Jesus. Being in Jesus’ “inner circle,” Judas had a closer relationship with Jesus than most people during His earthly ministry. He was one that could be refers to as the accountant and treasurer of Jesus ministry(Jn.12:6, 13:29). He eat and drank with Jesus! He was in every teaching /sermons of Jesus. He witness the mighty miracles in Jesus’ ministry and decided to do business with Jesus. Unknown to him that he was doing the bidding of the devil, he agreed to betrayed Jesus with 30pieces of silver. This he succeeded in doing with a kiss (Lk.22:47). And then Jesus was arrested, tried and crucified. He died and rose again for our redemption story to be complete. It couldn’t have been completed without Judas role of betrayal.

*What are the significance of Judas Iscariot’s role;*
1. Greed and love for money makes Judas a lunching pad for the devil! If you are greedy of gain and you love money too much, you too can behave like a Judas of your generation. So many person are betraying Jesus this days because of strong appetite for money. Say no to greed and love for money.

2. Be on the lookout for the Judas of your life; The saying that out of every twelve there is a Judas! Is true that in the midst of every group watch out for betrayal and saboteur! Jesus was aware of Judas intention because he said;
*Luke 22: 22. And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!* –
*John 13: 27. And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.*

His knowledge of whom Judas is made him not to be surprised but however the scriptures must be fulfilled.

Beloved, be careful of those whom you trusted with your property, your information, your money and your business. They could turn out to be the Judas of your life.

3. The kiss that was a sign of love and respect is what was use to betrayed Jesus!
*Matthew 26: 49. And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.*

Could you have believe that someone kissing you don’t really love you and honour you from the bottom of his/her heart? No of course! There are so many who are saying daddy, daddy, we love you but in their hearts it is different things altogether. Don’t believe that every one who said I love you really love you until you have been able to proof their love. Don’t fall in love overnight because love grows with time. Microwave love don’t last, as they are falling in love, they are also falling out of love. Guard your utterances jealously.

4. The devil will always use people who are close to you to attack you, betrayed you or backstab you. So be on your guard, it could be your pals, colleagues, associate, lover etc that can be use by the devil. So watch and pray!
*Psalm 55: 12. For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: 13. But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.*

*Remember this* : Heaven is real and hell is real! Prepare to meet your God by giving your heart to Jesus today.
*Prayer points:*
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord, I received grace to be careful of every Judas sent into my life in Jesus name.
*Prophetic Declaration;*
– I prophesy upon every one who has been wounded emotionally by your friend or the most trusted person in your life, receive Divine Healing right now in the name of Jesus.
– May you be delivered from every Judas possing as a friend in the name of Jesus.

*Assignment:* Kindly re-examine those whom you are trusting with your valuable, your properties and the secrets of your life to be sure they are not Judas of your life.
