TOPIC: THE PROGENITOR OF MERITED FAVOUR
Scripture :Proverbs 8: 35. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
Proverbs 13: 15. Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Previously, we established that there’s unmerited favour as well as merited favour! We went on to say the merited favour is a favour you have a part to play. Today, we shall be looking at the progenitor of this merited favour which are wisdom and understanding.
A progenitor according to Merriam Webster dictionary is something that begins the development of something else or someone that begins something. And according to the authority of the scriptures; we can say wisdom and understanding are the progenitor of favour!
The Bible said :
Proverbs 8: 35. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
Observed closely, from this scripture that wisdom is being personified here; We see wisdom speaking like a person saying “if you can find me, then you have obtained favour.” That is, favour is a child of Wisdom, if Wisdom is the father, then one of the offsprings of wisdom is favour.
Similarly, we can also see from another scripture:
Proverbs 13: 15. Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
From the second scripture we can see that good understanding brings favour! It is like good understanding is a woman who is pregnant and the child she gives birth to is favour!
Beloved, if it is merited favour you desire, then ensure you possess wisdom and understanding as your part of the deal.
There are those who desire favour yet neglect wisdom and understanding the progenitor of favour! Please note that wisdom and understanding are inseparable as far as your pursuit of favour is concerned.
Both are like the two sides of a coin . And you can not seek for wisdom and neglect understanding! Both goes together because wisdom requires understanding to function.
Infact it is on the legs of understanding that wisdom stand. Desiring wisdom without understanding is like having a phone without a battery. This explains why the Bible said:
Proverbs 4: 7. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
How does wisdom and understanding brings favour?
1. By pulling people and resources towards you:
When you have wisdom and good understanding of what you do; people seems to like you naturally!
A good example is football striker like J.J Okocha or Ronaldo, who wins the favour of everyone watching because of excellent skills performance on the pitch. You can not possess good understanding and not enjoy certain degree of favour. The best child in any class commands the admiration of everyone, including the teacher.
So also is wisdom. If you have wisdom, favour will naturally follow you. That was the case of Joseph;
Genesis 39: 6. And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.
As soon as Joseph arrived at Potiphars’s house, with the wisdom of God upon his life, he was liked by everybody!
Hence, people and resources were drawn towards him. In fact, if God wants to favour you, one of the ways He does it is to bless you with wisdom!
Especially the wisdom of speech making and creativity! It will amaze you at the number of people that will suddenly like you and are ready to favour you as soon as you are blessed with wisdom!
Beloved, if you are not being favoured right now, it is possible wisdom is lacking in your life.
Rather than throwing tantrums at everybody whom you feel don’t like you, go for wisdom and the story will change. Your wisdom bank determines the level of favour you enjoy.
2. By helping us manage the gifts of men(Prov.8:35); There are those who chase away their destiny helpers without knowing because of lack of wisdom. When you have wisdom, you know how to manage profitable relationships. The Bible said:
Proverbs 18: 24. A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
There are some young ladies who have lost their God ordained husband due to lack of wisdom of how to behave (character). Just as established previously, every favour you will ever need in life is in men.
If God wants to favour you, He will give you men! You must therefore be able to discern and learn to manage the gifts of men in your life and you will never lack favour.
Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real, if you miss heaven you can never miss hell! So make up your mind for Jesus today.
Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today,
– Lord, I receive grace to pursue favour by falling in love with wisdom and understanding in Jesus name.
Prophetic Declaration :
– I prophesy the wisdom and understanding that births the favour of God be released upon you from today in the name of Jesus.
– Yoke of disfavour is broken right now in Jesus name.
